Breaking Barriers: Jannelle’s Story

At 68 years old, Janelle lives with early-onset dementia and has been a cherished member of the Caring Australia community for the past two years. Janelle is non-verbal and no longer ambulant, relying on 24/7 support from our dedicated team.

Our compassionate staff assist Janelle with all aspects of daily living — including personal care, domestic tasks, medication management, cooking, and mealtime support — ensuring she remains comfortable, safe, and well cared for.

Janelle receives weekly physiotherapy to maintain mobility and comfort, and enjoys monthly outings in the community via wheelchair-accessible taxi, accompanied by both her informal and formal supports. She also looks forward to visits from her hairdresser every 6–8 weeks.

At home, Janelle loves watching TV, listening to music, and spending quality time with her loving husband Mark and their daughter. Her extended family also visits on special occasions, and with their help, we proudly support the preparation of shared meals and meaningful moments together.

Janelle’s story reflects our commitment to person-centred care, meaningful connection, and making every moment count.
